K.M.Mission Medical & Educational Trust, Madurai started the K.M.College of Pharmacy in the year, 1981 with foresight to provide pharmacy education in the backward districts and develop an institution of excellence in India. The Diploma in Pharmacy course was started in 1981 with the permission of the Govt. of Tamilnadu and Pharmacy Council of India, in a rented building on the Alakar Koil Road, Madurai.

Within three years the management was able to move to its won spacious building, built as per the requirement of the Pharmacy council of India at Uthangudi in a rural background. The institution is located within a short distance from the main road and the same time, faraway from the dust and din of the urban city making it conductive for academic pursuits.
In 1985, the B.Pharm, degree course was started with affiliation from the Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai. Subsequently, it came under the Tamilnadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University for starting M.Pharm Degree course in the branches of Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Pharmacognosy. The College has been permitted to admit six students in each branch. Subsequently in 1997, two more branches namely, Pharmacology and Pharmacy Practice were added with an increased intake of students for each branch.

The institution has full fledged facilities in the various branches viz., Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmacognosy, Pharmacology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Anatomy, Physiology, Health Education, Mathematics and Pharmacy Practice. Conforming to the requirements of the Govt., Pharmacy Council of India and AICTE.

Now our College has been upgraded as a research institution to offer PhD Program under the Tamilnadu Dr.M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai.
